A paint night that smells a little like hay.
The Painted Trail brings artist-led painting to the barn at Ocean View Stables in Daly City, just south of San Francisco and a few steps from the horses.
Our story
Why a barn?
The Painted Trail is run by Terrence Tan, a lifelong San Franciscan and horse lover. He wanted a place where people could slow down by the coast, spend a few hours around horses and go home with something they made themselves.
So the sessions happen in the barn aisle at Ocean View Stables. The horses look on from their stalls, a local artist leads the painting, and guests bring whatever they like to drink.

Three things every session gets right.
The place
Paintings start from what is around you: the coast, the barn, the horses.
The guidance
A local artist shows every step, so first-timers can keep up and experienced painters can wander off.
The pace
About two and a half hours, with time to talk, sip and look around.
Our venue
Hosted at Ocean View Stables.
Ocean View Stables is a working stable on the coast in Daly City. The Painted Trail is a separate business that hosts its painting sessions there.
Saved by the Saddle is a separate nonprofit at Ocean View Stables, with horsemanship programs for youth and veterans.
